Guest Speaker #1: Adam Shoalts
Topic: Beyond The Trees: A journey alone across Canada’s Arctic
Adam Shoalts is a professional explorer and bestselling author best known for his long solo wilderness journeys. Shoalts is the Westaway Explorer-in-Residence at the Royal Canadian Geographical Society and has a PhD from McMaster University in History.
His expeditions have included crossing nearly 4,000 kilometres of Canada's Arctic alone, to mapping waterfalls and seeking out some of the rarest wildlife and flora on the planet.
Adam will share some photos and stories from his journeys including the flora in the remote places he travels.
Guest Speaker #2: Janet Haynes Graham
Topic: How to properly pot up plants for our Spring Plant Sale
Janet Haynes Graham is a member of the Etobicoke Master Gardeners. She joined the group shortly after retiring 4 years ago, following a life time of gardening and a career in earth science and environmental compliance. Janet is growing her interest in native plants and understanding the battle against invasives in our natural and cultivated areas. And of course she is engaged in the constant challenge of getting the garden “just right”.
Janet will be guiding us on how to properly pot up plants.
