Youth Programs
Our Youth Programs build on the EHS mission to build interest, involvement, education and love for the environment. For 2024, our efforts will focus on the Primary and Postsecondary school levels.
At the Primary School level, we are working
with the Scientists in School National
Canadian program and funding three
"Get the Dirt on Plants" STEM workshops
for Grade 3 level in Etobicoke schools.
At the Post Secondary School level, we are pleased to announce an EHS Bursary in partnership with Niagara College. This bursary is made possible thanks to generous EHS member donations and bequeathments.
Etobicoke Horticultural Society will make available 2 bursaries per year to students currently enrolled in the Niagara College Horticultural Technician and Horticultural Technician
Co-op programs.
The Landscape Technician and Horticultural technician programs are administered out of the 125-acre Daniel J. Patterson Campus in Niagara-on-the-Lake which serves as a living lab and includes Ontario’s largest training greenhouse, newly renovated landscape design studio and computer lab, and heated landscape workshop.
Programs include hands-on experiential learning resulting in students learning not only skills, but also pride of work.
Niagara College is Ontario’s only college where students are responsible for maintaining the campus landscape. https://www.niagaracollege.ca/environment/
