Volunteers and members make it possible!!

Members and volunteers are crucial to the Etobicoke Horticultural Society.

They provide the people power, funding, ideas, and community connections that keep our organization active, relevant, and sustainable over time.

People power and capacity

The EHS is run by member volunteers devoting their time and love to deliver on our mission of nurturing - to build interest, involvement and education in horticulture (plants, nature) and the environment, thereby beautifying and providing enjoyment to people in Etobicoke and beyond.

Over 150 active member volunteers supply the labour to run our monthly meetings, maintain community gardens, organize fundraisers, and deliver workshops and youth support that could never be afforded otherwise.

The EHS needs volunteers to work in areas such as:

Community impact & support: working in community gardens to beautify neighborhoods, creating holiday centrepieces for seniors in Etobicoke

Education and knowledge sharing: writing articles about plants, sustainable practices, garden care, leading workshops

Leadership roles: becoming an EHS board member to apply leadership, mentoring and management skills to lead committees and initiatives

Why and how to volunteer at the EHS?:

Volunteering strengthens social bonds, builds a sense of belonging, and connects you with like-minded people across ages and backgrounds. It’s an opportunity to gain skills, confidence, learning and have fun through gardening and organizing activities.
